Fundrazors!!

  The fundraisers are making progress where trying to reach our goal of 1000 dollars to put toward the summer project supplies. I think were about alomost half way there,way to go 7thgen!!! where still down here every Thursday and Friday, so if u wanna se what we've got, come on down and catch a look for urself. :) its for a good cause!

Express U show tommorow !!!

Hey it’s Sam, form 7th Gen, so it’s one more day till the Express U project’s shown at City Hall, hope to see everybody’s face there alongside with there amazing works of art. Everyone pieces turn out good. Well done guys! I know the show is going to awesome. For everyone else that dose not yet know about the show it’s at City Hall, Tuesday, June, 15th. Starting at 6 o’clock, and should be finishing up around 9ish. See all ya tommorow

7th Gen Youth Advisory Meeting

Hi all, this is just a heads up that we are hoping to hold a big ole 7th Gen Youth Advisory Meeting on Tuesday June 22nd. We need some more direction as we are going forward in order to:


Work out 7th Gen’s mission statement and mandate
Determine 7th Generation programming during the summer
Find out what you guys want to see
Work with connections you all have in the community
Discuss the upcoming Trillium Grant (and what space you guys want to have the program in!)
Partnerships
SUPPER and tokens provided! Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions J And please let us know if you are coming, bringing friends, etc… I will be making a Facebook in the near future
We will be meeting at 30 College St. from about 5-7PM – come to the 7th Gen office for 5 please, as the building closes its doors at that time!

7th Gen Fundraising

This week was the first time we set up the 7th Gen Creative Expressions table outside Native Child and Family Services at Yonge and College. We have been in the studio preparing accessories, arts and crafts to help fundraise $1000. That's our beginning focus for starters to see how it goes. We are fundraising for this summers upcoming film project.

Yesterday we made $115 and we will be sitting at the table outside again this afternoon. If you have anything that we would wish to donate then Come On Down! or if you would like to meet us or come and buy something at our craft table in support then Come On Down! Downtown Yonge & College!

HST Rally

HST RALLY
We were fortunate enough to take the time to create some signs and spend a full afternoon supporting the HST Rally at Queens Park yesterday with the hopes of amendment. Before we went we were putting some thought into what we should say on our placards. I looked at Sam's painting on wood of Sitting Bull which also has some strong quotes of his on it. Inspired by her painting I took the picture she painted of Sitting Bull and traced it and put on bristol board with the word Change? and the quotes:

"I wish to be remembered that I was the last man of my tribe to surrender my rifle, our rights... Only seven years ago we make a treaty by which we were assured the Buffalo Country should be left to us forever now they threaten to take our tribal land?" - Sitting Bull

And Liz made a placard that said: "Someone call the UN First Nations treaties disrespected again." "Sorry's just a word turn it into action, from one nation to another uphold the treaties"

Good thing we took to the streets because there was not much media attention. I mean there was a helicopter flying over head and I seen cameras there, but when it came to the news coverage it was barely noticed.

This morning when I dropped my son off at daycare one the E.C.E. students asked "What's happening with the HST and the native people? I was walking home from work and seen the protest. Are they taking those rights away? I wasn't even aware of that, there's been no public mention" I then told him that yes that is where things are at right now, but also that since the foundation of this country treaties were made and broken. I also mentioned that we are not only worried about HST but of more since this country is billions of dollars in debt.

And lets not forget, yesterday was also Earth Day. Most of our protests have to do with protecting the earth and humanity, which sometimes goes unnoticed because of attention to a broken treaty.

Spring Fever!

i loved reading the write ups everyone wrote about thier pieces :) and alot of people came out to the event last night, more than was expected ! So proud of you Natalie for getting into Humber for photography & also Lance & Sam into OCAD! Its a great time in your youth to begin exploring your artistic self while getting your education because it keeps your creativity flowing and your knowledge expanding. And in the end you come out with so much. CONGRATULATIONS & keep it up ya'll. People love what you all are doing. For those who couldn't make it out. So many people have said they love all the pieces And have inquired about prints so we have a print order form out now :) Congrats also to Rawn & Sam for selling thier originals :) I'm so so proud of you guys :) & of course of Liz & Amanda for getting this all together & John and Miles and Amanda again for taking these photos for everyone. Well not everyone Natalie took hers herself & is going to Humber YaY!!
